Born in Anhui, China, Vivienne Hu studied in Germany and worked in the investment banking industry in New York before discovering her love of fashion. After a formal fashion design training from Parsons and stints at Oscar de la Renta and Yigal Azrouel, Hu founded her own brand and debuted her first Spring/Summer collection in New York in 2012. Her flagship store in Soho, New York opened shortly after, in 2013.

Pairing an impressive blend of European classical elegance, New York urban glamour and Asian exoticism, Hu’s collections are an evolving reflection of her cross-continental experience. Her designs have been featured in publications such as Harper’s Bazaar and Elle China. In March 2015, Hu showed her Fall/Winter 2015 collection at the Shenzhen Fashion Week for her first international showing.

In addition to her eponymous label, Hu has also served as a juror for the Fashion Design Thesis Review for the Parsons School of Fashion. In June 2015, she accepted a Recognition of Achievement award from Wells Fargo & sponsoring media as a representative from Asian American Community.

This season marks Vivienne Hu’s first collection with Swarovski Collective.

Vivienne Hu's Spring/Summer 2016 collection featured bold crystal studding across many pieces paired with organic, abstract shapes. The designer used flowing silhouettes and asymmetric hemlines for looks that were both feminine and free spirited, with a nod to soft colors and pastel pantones.
