Trained both in womenswear, Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida subscribe to the Helmut Lang school of thought, where ‘fashion is about attitude, not hemlines’.

While their aesthetic evokes raw effortlessness, the pair’s technical sensibilities are revealed in the construction of each piece. Cutting their teeth at Vivienne Westwood and Preen respectively, Marques and Almeida took the natural course of combining talents while on the MA at Central SaintMartins – hitting the mark between impulse and consideration.

They launched MARQUES ‘ ALMEIDA in April 2011 and showed for their first 2 seasons under Lulu Kennedy’s platform – Fashion East. They have been awarded NEWGEN sponsorship from the British Fashion Council/Topshop and have shown SS13 , AW13 and SS14 on schedule at LFW.

Discovered by Opening Ceremony and Joyce with their very first collection, the brand’s stockists are now spread across London, New York, Los Angeles, Portland, Hong Kong, South Korea, Russia, and Australia, including their capsule menswear collection stocked exclusively at Opening Ceremony New York, LA and London.

Sequins, metallic fabrics, a strong color palette and crystal accents helped deliver a powerfully diverse Fall/Winter 2015 Collection by Marques Almeida. The duo used customised Swarovski crystal transfers to highlight boldy colored denim pieces as well as embroidered Swarovski crystal filigrees and crystal mesh balls.

Crystal added a luxe edge to the Marques Almeida collection, adding experimental fun to their Nineties feel. The brand’s signature, raw denim was updated this season with a black color palette interspersed with vivid hues of lightweight silks, linen and leather, while multicolored crystals were hand-embroidered across sheer deconstructed dresses, lose belts and denim bags.

We’re very excited to start working with the crystals and incorporating them in our SS15 collection! It has a special excitement for us because the image of our label is very much about 1990’s inspired street style with a slight grungy undertone, so we feel there’s a real possibility of creating something new and exciting.
