Designer J.W. Anderson (Jonathan William Anderson) was born on the 17th september 1984. Originally from Northern Ireland, he is now based in London. After first pursuing a career in acting, he subsequently fell in love with stage costumes and went on to study menswear at the London College of Fashion, graduating in 2005.

The label J.W. Anderson was launched in 2008 with a men’s collection and was subsequently shown as part of the Fashion East men’s initiative, MAN for two seasons – in February 2009 and September 2009. From February 2010 (the AW2010/11 collection) JWA showed his men’s collection on schedule at London Fashion Week with the support of Newgen Men.

At the same time a women’s capsule collection was launched at the behest of fans and stockists of the menswear. The women’s collections quickly achieved critical and commercial success and in February 2011 was shown on-schedule during London Fashion Week with the support of Newgen, where it was generally considered the break-through collection of the season.

J.W. Anderson adopted a minimalistic approach this season in which A-line skirts were accented with distinctive dogtooth prints in incandescent laser-cut Crystal Fabric, evocative of a futuristic era.

“Swarovski Elements add new texture and an element of sharpness to the theme of craft goes machine. Swarovski Elements achieve the feel of modernity and enforced sense of the high-tech.” – J.W. Anderson
